Laura Peterson

Born in Seattle and raised in Issaquah, Laura Peterson has been sharing her knowledge, skills and experiences with Puget Sound dance students since 1992.

She received a Bachelor of Art in Dance from the University of Washington and a Master of Science in Dance Science from Laban in London, UK. As a teacher, dancer and choreographer, her background includes tap, ballet, modern and many styles of jazz. She has been seen on stage performing with such companies as Redd Legg Dance, New Vision Dance, Lehua Dance Theatre, Arc Dance and the Seattle Symphony. She has also worked with such celebrated choreographers as Wade Madsen, Mark J. Kane, Mark Haines, Eva Stone, Catherine Cabeen and Rain Ross.

Laura most recently was an Associate Adjunct Professor of Dance at Bellevue College (BC) and on faculty at eXit SPACE School of Dance. Along with teaching dance at BC she was also proud to hold the title of Director for the Bellevue College Dance Company, where she produced the World Dance Festival and BCDC 1-2-3. She has also choreographed several productions for the Theatre Department, including winning an award for her choreography in Antigone.

As a dance scientist, she conducts dancer screenings to help dancers learn more about their own bodies and how to utilize them more efficiently. Laura also is Level 4 Franklin Method® educator.
